Eurasia net presents Marseille International Citizens (MIC), a Franco-international volunteer program created by Eurasia net and Eurocircle, and supported by the City of Marseille, in the decentralized cooperation framework.
Marseille International Citizens - what is it?
It is a program that allows young people between 18 and 25 years old (for Civic Service) and 18 to 30 years old (for European Solidarity Corps) to volunteer abroad in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or a company focused on social and solidarity economy (SSE).
The missions last between 7 and 12 months, with a 1 month phase in Marseille followed by an international phase.
Marseille International Citizens offers mobilities in different countries: Africa, North America, Asia and Europe. The volunteers’ missions focus on different themes such as culture, education, the environment and social and solidarity economy. This program is open to all young people, regardless of their educational qualifications or skills.
International mobility is a great opportunity for young people wishing to have a semi-professional experience, a solidarity impact on society and an international experience. It also allows the development of numerous skills, notably linguistic and intercultural skills, and on their return from their mobility, the volunteers testify they had a very rich experience that has allowed them to gain confidence in themselves and their abilities.
How the program works
The one-month local integration phase in Marseille allows volunteers to learn about social and solidarity entrepreneurship, project management and interculturality through training and practical activities. It is also an opportunity to create links with other volunteers and to work as a team during team-building workshops, solidarity projects and to contribute to fundraising actions, such as the Christmas market in the Old Port of Marseille.
The local phase also allows the volunteers to become familiar with the functioning of the NGOs so that their mobility goes as smoothly as possible. Volunteers will also be offered language training to help them gain confidence in their ability to communicate in English. This local phase is mandatory.
Country of destination
The country of destination for the international phase varies according to the partner associations. Volunteers can carry out their mission in one of the following countries:
- Armenia
- Combodia
- India
- Japan
- Malaysia
- Philippines
- Vietnam
