Armenian Coop

Presentation of the project
The ‘Armenia Coop: decentralised cooperation through volunteering’ project, coordinated by the Eurasia Net association, is part of the Bouches-du-Rhône département’s decentralised cooperation with foreign territories. The project aims to strengthen links between the département and Armenia.

We are going to prepare and support young volunteers aged 18 to 25 for a civic service mission in the region and then in Armenia. We will organise activities with them before and after the international experience. The missions will focus on themes such as links with the Armenian diaspora, sustainable development, heritage enhancement and the environment, depending on the motivations of the young people and the objectives of the partners. Eurasia Net is working with Armenian Volunteers Corps, a long-standing partner, to offer a variety of assignments throughout Armenia.

Objectives

  1. To strengthen Franco-Armenian cooperation and, more specifically, the links between the Bouches-du-Rhône region and Armenia.
  2. To support young people in their civic commitment by helping them to develop skills throughout their civic service volunteering.
  3. To promote intercultural dialogue between France and Armenia with young people on a variety of themes.

Activities
The project’s main activities include

  1. Meeting Armenian associations in the Bouches-du-Rhône area to identify avenues for cooperation: support for their activities and forthcoming events, creation of opportunities for cooperation (joint event, avenues for cooperation including the youth section).
  2. Identification of missions in Armenia with the partner ‘Armenian Volunteers Corps’.
  3. Identifying and monitoring 5 volunteers who will be going on a mission to Armenia for a period of 6 to 12 months.
  4. These volunteers will have the opportunity to meet and exchange with local associations with links to Armenia, to co-construct or participate in their activities and to strengthen cooperation, building a bridge between the Bouches-du-Rhône region and Armenia.
  5. Promoting the work carried out by the volunteers through cultural, educational and artistic projects.
