‘Phocéens ouverts au monde’ (Phocaeans open to the world) is a project combining two volunteering schemes – International Civic Service and the European Solidarity Corps – with the aim of strengthening existing links between the City of Marseille and its twinned or cooperating cities.
On the one hand, the aim is to promote the attractiveness and influence of Marseille internationally, and on the other, to enable young people to carry out long-term voluntary work abroad, thereby facilitating their access to employment through the acquisition of skills (particularly language skills), intercultural experience and practical know-how.
Particular attention will be paid to the ecological transition in the assignments to reflect the ‘100 carbon-neutral cities by 2030’ label obtained by the City of Marseille. The projects proposed to young people under this call for projects will be closely linked to at least one (and usually several) of the 17 sustainable development goals. The project will enable 11 young people from Marseille and the surrounding area to undertake international voluntary work for a period of 2 to 12 months.
